Personal Insights on Emotional Intelligence
A member of my college’s advisory board once gave me the book Emotional Intelligence 2.0, by Travis Bradberry, and told me that every student should be taught about emotional intelligence. Intrigued, I read the book and quickly realized how much I needed to improve my own EQ. This realization was further reinforced when I took the Ideal Team Player assessment, by Patrick Lencioni, which revealed that as a team leader, I was often an “accidental mess maker” due to my lower EQ scores. I was humble and hungry, but not (emotionally) smart. It hit hard and true.
Reading Emotional Intelligence 2.0 and Emotional Intelligence Habits (also by Travis Bradberry) provided me with valuable insights and practical strategies for enhancing my emotional intelligence. These resources, combined with the tools and training from the Everything DiSC® Agile EQ™ program, have been instrumental in my ongoing journey to become a more emotionally agile leader. I am still a work in progress, but I am committed to continuous improvement.
